For decades, David Anderson’s life was defined by the sound of a siren. As a longtime paramedic and the Fire Chief in Gateway, Colorado, David dedicated his career to his community. But life has a way of shifting course. After a stroke on the job led to an unexpected retirement, David found himself at a crossroads. He traded the high-stakes world of emergency service for the patient, rhythmic cycles of the vineyard. The transition wasn’t easy. There were "bad batches" and steep learning curves, but David’s firefighting grit wouldn’t let him quit. With the support of his wife, Tammy, and a transformative mentorship from some local legends, the path became clear. When David produced his first ton of Cabernet Sauvignon, the result was more than just great wine—it was a calling.
At Gerard, we aren't looking to reinvent the wheel or chase fleeting trends. We make wine for the person who loves a classic, well-crafted glass. Our approach is defined by honesty:
100% Varietals: If our label says Cabernet Sauvignon, it is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. No fillers, no shortcuts.
Minimal Intervention: We utilize natural, open-air fermentation and choose never to filter our wines, preserving the raw character and complexity of the fruit.
The "How" is on Display: We believe in transparency. When you visit our tasting room, you’ll see our winemaking equipment right there. We want you to see exactly how the wine in your glass was born.
Located at 412 35 Rd in Palisade, our brand-new tasting room was designed to be your home away from home. Whether you’re sitting at our expansive bar or enjoying the breeze on our outdoor grass patio, you’ll have a front-row seat to the stunning vistas of the Grand Valley. Our unique indoor-outdoor serving window makes us the perfect retreat for those famous Palisade windy days, offering plenty of cozy seating without losing the view.
Planning an Event? Our space is ideal for intimate gatherings, celebrations, and small events for up to 30 guests. We’re building more than a business; we’re building a community.
The name Gerard is deeply personal. It is David’s middle name, given to him by his adoptive mother in honor of Saint Gerard. Today, that name represents a brand built on faith, resilience, and the belief that the best chapters of life are often the ones we didn’t see coming.
